Part 1
"One scotch on the rocks and one rain vodka"
"Sure sir"
Taking down a bottle without even looking up to read the label, she poured the liquid into a glass full of ice, then she poured the vodka into another glass and pushed it forward towards the customer.
Giving her a nod the customer takes the two glasses and moves into the crowd of people on the dance floor.
As the night went on she continued fulfilling the requests of the customers, but at the same time she enjoyed watching each person while some drank to celebrate others would drink in woe. Each person had their own story and that intrigued her. She had a story of her own as well but we will get to that later.
Checking the clock as she felt her eyes slightly drooping, she thanked God that it was closing time. Just as she was about head to the lockers to get changed, the manager came out and handed her a receipt and instructed her to take it to a couple sitting at table number eleven.
Although annoyed, she obeyed the orders and made her way to Table number eleven with a smile on her face.
Just as she was nearing the table, she heard a lady shouting at the man sitting across her. The lady was wearing a red halter neck dress that just reached her thighs, and she seemed highly pissed at the guy sitting opposite her.
"I don't know what has happened to you, you have completely changed!" the lady screamed "You know what - get your own way back home" the lady picked up her clutch and left.
After seeing the drama unfold in front of her, she (the bartender) smiled to herself as she saw the man trying to get up but wobbling a lot.
"Sir - " she tried calling out to him, but he was so busy putting his whole concentration on trying to get up without falling that he didn't hear her.
Just as he was about to lose his balance, she caught him from behind and made him sit in his chair. As she finally caught a sight of his face, her eyes automatically enlarged, her heart rate soared, and her legs trembled.
She was brought back from her thoughts as she heard him mumbling something - his eyes were drooping and he looked like he was in a bad state, but there was a pleasant smile on his face.
"Do - do you know me?" he managed to slur out after a few trials.
"Yesss!!" her heart screamed, but she couldn't tell him - not yet at least. "No" she answered looking away from his capturing eyes.
His eyes continued flipping on and off as the amount of alcohol in his body was affecting him.
"Sir - "she felt awkward referring to him so formally "can you call anyone to come take you home?"
"Huh?" he looked at her once again, his eyes widening as if he had forgotten her presence. Literally.
"Do you have any way to get home?" she asked again, much slower this time.
"No" he replied looking into her chocolate brown eyes.
Asking him to stay put at the table; she quickly rushed into the locker room to get her purse. There was no way she could trust him to get home safely - not in this position.
Guiding him out, she placed him against the wall before she shut the place down for the night. Holding his upper arm tightly she placed him in an auto and got in beside him. "To the Raizada Mansion, opposite Vizag Central" she instructed the auto driver, after checking the address written inside his wallet.
Feeling a weight pushing down on her shoulder suddenly she turned to her side to notice the man dozing off comfortably clutching her shirt.
Extending her hand slowly, she reached out to touch his cheek. Placing her fingers gently on his cold skin she sighed shutting her eyes.
As teardrops silently crept out from the corners of her eyes she looked at him once again and leaned forward and kissed him lightly on the forehead.
"I miss you and I - "she whispered hesitantly.
Seeing him wrinkle his nose, she pulled back immediately and looked away.
Feeling the warm night air gently brushing past her she wiped away the dry remnants of the tears that had flown out earlier.
After all these years, she would never have guessed that this is how she would meet him again. Actually ever since she had returned to Vizag she had been hoping for a glimpse of him, but after one year of nothing, she had given up all hope. However as they say, God always has his own plans and somehow or the other things work out.
Whispering a silent prayer to God, thanking him she looked back at the man beside her and a small smile formed on her face seeing how much at peace he looked sleeping with his head on her shoulder.
As the auto pulled up in front of the huge mansion, she asked the driver to wait for her before waking up the man and helping him get off. Since the man wasn't in full consciousness she had trouble moving him but once she reached the big gates at the front the watchman took over.
Making sure he was okay with the watchman, she hopped back onto the auto and headed homeward.
ooo
"How much did I drink yesterday night???" he groaned as he woke up, his head felt as if someone was beating on it with a 20 pound dumbbell.
Rubbing his eyes to clear his vision he looked at the ceiling fan spinning rapidly above him that was enough for him to want to throw up. Shutting his eyes again he made himself sit up.
Taking a couple of deep breaths he opened his eyes once again and placed his legs on the floor.
Seeing the clock his eyes suddenly widened as he realized how late he was to work.
Jumping out of bed he cursed himself for being so irresponsible; being the owner of the Raizada industries he himself was late.
Taking a quick shower he got ready, as he was looking through his wallet he noticed something missing.
In frenzy he rushed back to his closet where the he had picked up his wallet from and searched for something, but wasn't able to find it. Scanning the floor as he ran his hand through his hair he got even more frustrated.
"I had it just yesterday night - where could it be?" he asked himself "I will never forgive myself if I lost it - that's the only remembrance I have."
Placing the wallet in his pocket and picking up the car keys, he rushed out. Finding the watchman at the entrance he inquired who had dropped him last night.
"Some lady had dropped you sir" the watchman replied, and gave a quick description of the woman. Thanking the watchman, he made his way to the club he had been at the night before.
Meeting with the manager he asked about the lady who was here last night.
"She only works here in the night sir" he replied.
"Do you know where she lives?" he asked anxiously.
"Sir we can't divulge our worker's private information."
"I need it urgently, please can you help me out - actually our company held a contest and she is the lucky winner and we need to contact her" he lied, hoping that would help him get the information.
Lucky for him the gullible manager took his bait and within a few minutes he was rushing out of the club with the woman's address in hand.
Reaching her house, he was told by the neighbor that she works at a nearby supermarket during the daytime.
Finally reaching the supermarket he hoped she was there and more importantly that she could help him.
After looking around for a while for a woman matching the watchman's description he saw a lady that looked similar. Walking up to her he waited till she finished talking to a customer.
As soon as she turned around, it was her eyes that caught his attention first. Those deep, light brown eyes that looked like they had seen a lot in the world around them, but somewhere he also saw a spark of warmth however he didn't know if it was due to him or anything else.
The more he looked into her eyes the more familiar they looked; if not for the face he would have definitely thought she was someone else. But alas all wishes don't come true he sighed.
"Do you remember me from yesterday night?" he asked quickly.
Seeing her nod slowly, he smiled. "By any chance did anything fall out of my wallet? An envelope of some type?" he questioned.
When he didn't get a reply from her she waved his hand in front of her face trying to get her attention.
"Oh - oh yes after I dropped you I found an envelope lying on the auto floor" she said.
"Do you happen to have it?" he asked, praying that she had managed to pick it up.
"Yes, it's in my purse I will get it for you" she said before disappearing. Soon enough she returned with an envelope and handed it to him.
Watching the man open the envelope and look through the contents the lady noticed a shiny diamond ring on his ring finger. She felt her breathing rate plummet suddenly as she saw the ring.
"He can't be ' "her heart said "but what if he is?" her mind asked "he might be engaged to that lady who was with him yesterday."
Keeping her emotions in control she looked back up at the man in front of her, seeing the bright small on the man's face she couldn't help but feel slight warmth in the depths of her heart.
"Thank you so much for these!!" he grinned "You don't know how thankful I am to you that you had these" he expressed his gratitude.
She simply smiled, not knowing what to day.
"Oh by the way, I'm Arnav Singh Raizada and you are?" he asked holding out his hand.
"K - Kamya" she said quickly but she didn't stick out her hand to shake his.
"Alright well ' nice to meet you, I must be going now" Arnav said and left.
Staring at his retreating figure she felt tears streaming down her cheeks.
"He is taken" her mind told her.
"One scotch on the rocks and one rain vodka"
"Sure sir"
